Not many people have heard of the Terrain Race when I told them about it. It’s a relatively new OCR, but has started catching the attention of many across the country. From year to year they’ve increased their events and have finally come close enough to me to attend. Since this is a new race I’m not sure what to expect from them. Race reviews have been pretty positive so I’m hopeful for a fun and challenging time.
Terrain Race offers two race courses, a 5k and 10k with 20+ obstacles. People are also given the option to run unlimited laps on either course. I opted for the 5k for my first time. If I have a good experience then i would consider completing the 10k if they come back next year. For the price I paid the deal was pretty good. All of their race options are reasonably priced for both distance and total obstacles.
This race is being held at Englishtown Raceway. If you remember, I was there a few weeks ago for the Rugged Maniac. This location is commonly used for OCR events and I’ll be interested in seeing how Terrain Race uses the venue compared to Rugged Maniac and Battlefrog (event was in 2015).
Below is my gear list for everything I’ll have with me.
Photo ID (wallet)
Confirmation Email (saved on my phone)
Running Clothes (shirt, compression shorts, compression pants)
Flip Flops (for the after race showers)
Change of Clothes & Shoes
Arm Sleeves (from Sleefs)
Plastic Bags for muddy clothes and shoes
Weather Report: 89 degrees with scattered thunderstorms. So it will most likely be hot and uncomfortable.
Alan will be with me for this race and it will be his first race of the season. I know he’s pretty excited since he’s been on the injured list for the past few months. We should have a great time at the Terrain Race!
In the next mile I’ll have my full race review on this race.
