Today is the day. I’ve been waiting for this day since I signed up for the Spartan Beast in March. After completing the Citizens Bank Park Spartan Sprint today I’ll officially be a part of the Spartan Trifecta Tribe. I’m still in disbelief that this will be happening. Our team has been talking about completing the Spartan Trifecta since 2014. Each year we said we wanted to do it, but it never materialized until this year. It hasn’t been easy up to this point, but it’s all been worth it. All the stress, pain and difficult obstacles haven’t made this an easy journey. However, if it was easy then there would be more people completing the trifecta each year.
This is my first Spartan Stadium Sprint. I’ve had some friends complete this race a few years ago and they spoke very highly of it. This should be a fun race because they incorporate different aspects of the baseball stadium. I’ll be running up and down the bleachers and maybe even running throughout the clubhouse. It should be a great experience and a good race to finish out the trifecta. In addition to creating some great memories I’m also looking forward to some awesome race photos.
The CBP Sprint is only three miles. Per the course map it appears there are 11 obstacles, but I’m willing to bet there will be a few more. The biggest difference between this Spartan Race and the others is there is no water or mud. I’m not a huge fan of mud so this will be a nice change. Although this is considered one of Spartan’s easier courses I cannot underestimate the bleacher climbs and the obstacles. Spartan Race’s aren’t easy and I don’t think this one will be any different.
Since this race is different from any other Spartan Race I’ll have to change up my gear list slightly. I won’t need trail shoes, instead I’ll be wearing regular running shoes. Below is my complete list.
Photo ID (wallet)
Confirmation Email (saved on my phone)
Running Clothes (shirt, compression shorts, compression pants)
Arm Sleeves (from Sleefs)
Weather Report: Tomorrow is going to be a perfect day for a race. 75 degrees and partly cloudy.
Be sure to check out my facebook page later for my photos. I have a pretty awesome trifecta medal display that I’m excited to showoff.
In the next mile I’ll have my complete race review on the CBP Spartan Sprint.
